As New Year's Eve celebrations get under manner across the North East, people are being warned not to beverage and drive.

Northumbria Police launched its annual Christmas drink and drug driving campaign earlier in December, to help keep the roads safe over Christmas and New Year.

But as people make efforts to stay safe, at that place's one question many ask the morning after the night earlier - am I all right to drive?

It takes effectually an hour per unit, only this can vary depending on a number of things, including weight, gender, historic period, your metabolism, how much food you take eaten, what you have been drinking, whether you're taking medication and the type of medication.

Can yous speed up the process?

No. Drinking lots of water or eating a large breakfast might help 'sober y'all upwardly', but it won't actually quicken the speed at which booze leaves the torso.

• Milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood: 80 (it's 50 in Scotland)

• Milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine: 107 (it's 67 in Scotland)

It isn't possible to say how much you can drink and stay below the limit as it affects people differently. The best policy, therefore, is not to drink any drive.
