At what age should young people read this volume?
Diane May 11, 2013 10:19AM I'm wondering when others introduced their children or grandchildren to this volume. I've always felt that information technology'southward an important book on many levels.

I thank 12 is a good age. I was eleven/12 when I first read it and was deeply touched .
We read this in class in Grade iv. I, personally, was deeply affected as this was the first time that the furnishings of the state of war actually hitting me, and I began to understand what horrors my swell granddad must have gone through as a pilot in the war. Only, I practise call back 11 or 12 is a better age as I did discover that half my class was unaffected by the story and seemingly didn't understand the importance of near of the book.
I think 12 or 13 is a good historic period.
My 8th graders read it in class. They are old enough to "become it." If someone is a little younger just mature plenty to capeesh it, I would recall it'due south o.thousand. It depends on the child.
I read it when I was nearly 9, but I had been reading books like this for a while, I enjoyed it and it made me weep on many occasions. My 12 year quondam read it last year and it had a large bear upon on her life, and I recall that is a dandy age for someone to read this volume, unless they are a flake more of a mature reader.
x+ seems reasonable. Otherwise, I recall the gravity of what is occurring tin be missed.

i feel like if your over 12 then you should be able to read it, thats when i read it, and i really liked it at that age
i read it when i was in 5th class and when i read it once more in 9th grade i really liked it...so i remember 12+ is good to read this book.
Freshman year of highschool.
I read this book when I was in sixth grade I think. It was an heart opener to a world then dissimilar than my own.
I was near xi-12 when I get-go showed a not bad involvement in Anne's life, and I had read it by the time I was thirteen. However, I still revisit the diary every now and then because I love it so much.
I read her diary at age 14 and thought it was astonishing.
I read information technology when I was about xiii years old (we read information technology in English language grade)
I start read this volume when I was 10 and I didn't actually savor information technology. I believe I wasn't too young, simply uninformed. I re-read it years later when i was 14 afterward I visited a concentration campsite and found I gained much more from the reading experience. I believe that yous can relate and dear this volume at whatsoever historic period, equally long as yous take had the right experiences and information.
I read it at 14 and I remember it's pretty easy to understand at 12 likewise.

I tried it at about 7 and could non read it, it was too hard. And so I read it at about 12 and it was amazing
Well, I was in the fifth grade the commencement time i read this, so I was eleven. I have not read it since then, but would honey to, particularly at present that I'grand so close to Anne'southward age. (This is horrible, but I can't even recollect exactly what that age was...)
I read it when I was x/eleven
Never, personally I didn't like the book. However, the historic period when a kid should read I really depends on the child. Some children are very mature and can handle/understand the material, where others don't at the same age.
I read it at about twelve.
I'm not good at guessing what age a child should read a volume. Children, as we know, mature at unlike times. Although, they might be the aforementioned age. For this book, I would choose Fourteen to xvi years sometime. This age group would enjoy it and find themselves portrayed in many parts of the diary. It would inspire the young people to proceed a diary as a hobby. Requite them an idea what to put in the diary.
I read information technology when I was either 14 or 15 at schoolhouse and it affected me strongly then and take read it several times since. Do boys get as much from it? Can they chronicle to her?
this was my very first book and i bought this when i was in 4th form. It was really terrifying at first, only as i re-read information technology once more and again, it's really something that should exist read and be noticed even at a very young age. like what Diane wrote: it's an important volume on many levels.

Read it betwixt 2nd to 4th grade. I liked it, simply didn't feel like it drew whatsoever emotion out of me at that detail age. I was older by the time I appreciated information technology, so probably around 11 or 12.
I remember as with any truly good book, this tin can be read from as early equally, given the kid'south & their guardian's comfort level. Information technology can be re-read during a lifetime as one's perspective alters and expands with historic period & experience.
It really depends on the maturity level and reading level of the reader. I probably could have handled it both intellectually and emotionally at 11, whereas some people would be better off reading it at an older age, and some could probably even read information technology at a younger historic period.
You could read it around when you are twelve its an okay volume but non so skillful.
I was 15 when I read it .
I don't call back it has so much to do with historic period as it does with maturity level. In that location are 9 yr olds who will sympathise the gravity of what takes place in this book and then there are 40 twelvemonth olds who wont go information technology at all. Even on this forum there are people who say they don't similar this book. They simply don't go it and I don't retrieve it has any thing to do with their age.

I taught it to 7th graders (that'd exist about 12 or 13)...some got information technology, some struggled with information technology. But then, I'one thousand a reading teacher, so I accept some insight into the fact that anybody'southward perspectives and strengths as readers develop differently, likewise as their tastes. In my Opinion, "The Diary of a Young Girl" should be read, BUT I would never say that any child MUST read it. Maybe someone who doesn't accept so much to Anne Frank would meliorate appreciate "Night" by Elie Wiesel. Equally long every bit they're being encouraged to read powerful and significant works, the residue should be up to them.
when they commencement learning about history. depending on the child anywhere between 12/14 years.
I only read information technology at 18, considering no-1 ever fabricated usa read it in loftier school and I really wish they had. That said, nosotros watched Schindler'due south List endless times in high school and that was considered fine, so I should thing that because the book contains no actual violence other than the theme, it'd be a suitable introduction to teaching about the Holocaust, maybe at 12/thirteen.
I call up I was effectually 11 or 12 when I read it the first time, and and then I read information technology again at 17 or 18.
Information technology was definitely dissimilar experiences, but I call back 10+ is a pretty proficient age to read this book.

I think age thirteen/fourteen would exist a good age to read it
I was 10 when i picked up this book at the library. I was shocked and depressed when i got to the last page and discovered the diary had been abandoned and it did not take me long to realize why... :(
It has ever left me longing to have known that little girl and wishing she had grown up to be a happy and safety adult woman with her ain family.

I read this at 8 and I fell in love with it. I did observe parts upsetting though which is probably why I didn't re-read information technology until I turned 12. To be honest information technology depends on the reader - I was quite mature for my age but I still found information technology upsetting - just similar most adults. When I re-read it, I was able to appreciate exactly how inspiring and special the book is.
My grandmother gave me my first copy when I was near 12, equally far equally I remember.

Personally, I read this book when I was in third grade (8 years old). I was very intrigued by the holocaust, Anne Frank, and World state of war 2. I may or may not have understood everything the style I practice now but I believe anyone who is interested enough should be able to read this volume and later on all information technology is a 13 twelvemonth old girl's diary. Many people may say that this volume is as well graphic and agonizing but information technology portrays the reality of living during World War 2 specially when she is describing her living conditions in the Secret Annex as described on July 9, 1942 and where she had to share a room with Mr.Dussel.
I first read this book when I was about eighteen. I identified with Anne at that time. I read the book again as an developed, and institute myself reading it with the optics of the adults in the book. I don't know how I would have reacted to the book as a younger kid.
I'g 8 and I'thou reading at a fith grade level!! And this is my most favorite book Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is not i age fits all for reading this book. It depends on the reader'southward maturity and reading level skills rather than an capricious chronological age.
I think a mature 11 or 12 years. Most younger readers would not understand what Anne is saying and why.

I would personally recommend it to exist read when you are around the aforementioned age equally Anne during the writing of The Diary of a Young Daughter, so that you tin understand and empathize with her better.
Reading it older or younger would be fine (I read it at 12), but you wouldn't become the aforementioned experience and impact out of it.
I was xi when I kickoff read information technology...It touched me deeply. It will always take a special place in my heart.
I read it when i was 19, beautiful book and i touched so much in the end. i guess books like this take different levels of reading to accommodate with children in schools.BUT after we growing up, we read and run across every things in some other management and understand what beyond the words conspicuously.
